Gwendolyn Burkhalter Obituary, Death – Gwendolyn Regina Westbrook Burkhalter of Eastman, Georgia, died away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 17, 2023. At 1:00 PM on Friday, December 22nd, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, Brother Chuck Simpson will officiate the funeral. In China Hill, at Friendship Baptist Church, the funeral will take place.
Regina, who was born in 1939 in Colquitt, GA, was a Holiness believer. Bartow, Florida was her hometown, and she attended Bartow High School. Before moving to Milan, Georgia, she worked for Ben Hill Griffin Nursery for over 20 years in Frostproof, Florida. Raising seven children while also being a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt was her life’s work.
Daily Bible reading, fishing, canning, and visits to her sister in Lake City, Florida were some of her most treasured activities. Three siblings—Fletcher, Eli, and David Westbrook and three children Gwendolyn Kirkland, Billy Conners, and Wayne Burkhalter all died before her. Her spouse was John M. Burkhalter, Sr. Walter and Corine Westbrook had a daughter who passed away.
Among her survivors are two sons, Marty Conners (Linda) of Avon Park, Florida, and Michael Burkhalter (Tobbie) of Eastman, as well as two daughters, Maria Kersey (George) of Wauchula, Florida, and Sherry Miller (Jimmy) of Central City, Pennsylvania. Among her relatives who have passed away include her sister, Bob, from Lake City, Florida; Jan and Judy Westbrook, her sisters-in-law; and a plethora of nieces and nephews.
Michael Burkhalter’s residence at 1266 Middle Ground Church Road, Eastman, GA is where friends and relatives may find him and his family. There will be a visitation for the family at Southerland Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 22, between the hours of 12:00 and 1:00.
